A-bike with many surprises

Postby pacq on Fri May 01, 2009 8:38 am

I am somewhat concerned about a problem that is, say, recurring.

I have an A-Bike from 2007, and I am very happy with this bike.
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago after the rear tube has broken (as shown in viewtopic.php?t=635).
This is combined with the fact that the rear wheel has spiral scrapes (as in viewtopic.php?t=360) and the steering has become stiff.

So I decided to buy an A-Bike Plus from Mayhem online.
It is arrived quickly (shipped in Italy in 4 days).

I open the box.
The front reflector is already mounted... strange.
The rim wheels are oxidized...strange.
The decal is scratched...strange.
There are scrapes (metal is etched) on the stem. The steering is stiff. I start to worry.
I look closely and, honestly, it seems used.

May be a sample unit, or a returned one, or a reconditioned one? I do not know.

It has signs and scratches in many points, especially in parts of contact, and it is not clean as a factory product should be.
I am sure of this: my first A-bike was perfect, pristine.

So I asked to return it: I will hear what they say.

The disconcerting thing is that it is the second time that this happens to me.
Last year, when I ordered some spare parts, they came used and dirty.
In that situation Matt and Iga, at Mayhem, were very kind and supportive, and replaced everything free of charge.

What do you think?

Support has already answered: it is probably a test bike, sent for mistake.
I will send it back for a full refund.
