I noticed that the serial number of the A-Bike plus (or at least, what I saw) does not follow this rule, it's more opaque.

It consists of the sequence:

SRL (six numbers) (a letter) (eight numbers)

Hi all,

my name is Héctor, and I live in Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Spain). Any person living here in Palma with one A-bike? :)

Anyway, I'm going to attach some pictures of my new A-Bike Plus( I bought it to an ebayer, he sent me the form that you can see), and then you can help me to say if it is a original one or fake.

I really was thinking it was a original A-Bike, all was OK (I think). BUT the tyres brand is "Qing Da" and I read here in this forum that this tyre brand tells that is a fake A-Bike...I'm right?

Here are the pictures:

What do you think? original or fake???
I think it can help some other people who wants to buy an A-Bike Plus ORIGINAL.

I expect your opinions to definitely know my A-Bike is original.

Thanks to all!

Hello Héctor,
I can safely say that is original, from the wheels to the invoice, do not worry. :)

Ey pacq!

thanks a lot. I'm really worried because I can't return it.

But then, why the tyre's brand is "Qind Da" (in other post someone said it was a fake one)??

And today I was thinking about the chain, see this (I can't adjust the chain?):

(the screw was painted that color when I receive the A-bike, it's a quite rare, don't you think?)

And the brakes don't have springs:

Is all this normal in A-bike Plus?

thanks, thanks, thanks, a lot... (it's a lot of money to me right now)

The brakes seem fine. As for the screw, could be just a matter of finishing.
I have compared my A-Bike Plus with the previous model, and my impression is that the assembly is a little less accurate and the quality control is less strict.

Héctor,
my A-Bike Plus uses "Qing Da" tyres, while the previous model had "Cheng Shin" tyres.
Qing Da wheels are supplied as spare parts from Mayhem UK, so they are genuine parts.

Even the head of the bolt painted in red is an original feature, as you can see in this photo.

The chain tension regulator looks rather different, mine has the same look of the one used in the first series (see below)

That said, I think your bike is original....

Thanks a lot, pacq!

I don't understand then why the other user of the forum said the "Qing Da" tyres brand were FAKE...?

And the chain tension regulator? why mine is so different than yours?

Anyway, we have "Qing Da" doubt resolved.

Thanks a lot, pacq!

Finally,

I sent an e-mail to Mayhem with the original receipt and they told me it's an original one, bought to them.

Anyway, I don't understand why the chain tensioner is like that...

Confirmed by Mayhem, the chain tensioner is the last version one:

"2009/10/7 A-bike Sales <sales@a-bike.co.uk>

Hi!
This is the latest version making the adjusting the chain tension easier than before so everything is fine. Don't worry.

Hi All,

I am a poor Singaporean dying to own a A-Bike since it introduction and after years of saving, I have save enough to get one. A curious check on ebay and found this ads. I have contacted seller and following is his replies:

Quote

Hello,

The Cost of postage to Singapore is £69 sterling.

The A-bikes I sell are genuine. They were purchased from Mayhem UK. (European Agent). The accessories included are Pump, gel seat cover and Tool Kit. You can purchase spare parts and carry bags direct from A-bike.co.uk. Although I am not invloved with that company.

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact to me.

Kind Regards
Dermot Donaghy

or Item number: 320435948941

99pounds for a new and geninue A-Bike seem to be too good to be true but saving 100pounds from the official website is really a lot of money to me, at least I can use the money to get myself some spares from A-Bike and a few weeks of decent meals.

Anyone can verify if his is real, I hate to own a fake A-Bike and cannot accept the fact that my years saving will be gone into the drain and have to start my years of starvation and by the time I have enough saving for it, I may be getting the latest A-Bike Plus Plus Plus. Please help me to verify soon as my life may not be that long... :D

Thanks.

Best regards,
Jelwie

Hi Jelwie,

I have no idea whether the ebay item is genuine or not.

However, I can tell you that if you are in Singapore, you can buy a genuine A-bike from this website:

Cheers,
