Last week I left work on my A-bike and started to head down to the lake on Chicago's coastline. I was riding past the huge MacDonalds downtown, and low and behold, there was someone sitting there with a collapsible bike not much larger than the A-bike!
I started talking with him, and realized it was one of the Carry-Me bikes. It was great to finally meet someone else in Chicago who rides a small folding bike. We both tried each other's bikes out. The Carry-Me is a lot heavier, and does not fold quite as well, but it sure feels a lot sturdier and less prone to damage. I really like the little rack on the back wheel for toting things. I think I would still pick the A-bike overall, but I was impressed with the Carry-Me.
The man's name is "Yong" and we are thinking that maybe someday now we will try and find some other small bike riders in Chicago, and have a ride together. We will see if anything works out. If there are any other Chicago A-bike riders (or other small bikes) out there, please let me know.
Here is a photo of my A-bike and Yong's Carry-Me, right next to Ronald MacDonald on his unicycle.
