I tried out an imitation today. NoBrand

Postby Weakling on Wed Dec 03, 2008 10:20 pm

I looked and looked but failed to find any marking telling who made it.
But it was a sloppy built so not even worth the half price of the original.

sitting on it in the Shop the saddle wiggled left right n a way that felt very weird.

I don't remember that the original that I tested some 6 months ago felt like that.

They sold it for 1595SEK and the original costs some 3295SEK almost exactly double price.

The shop is part of a bicycle shop chain of shops all over Sweden. They are third in the chain.

1. the real importer.
2. a firm that buy from the importer and resell it to shops.
3. The shop I visited.

I am a coward, I don't want to be the one that tell the authorities.
I am not a psychically strong person, I barely survive so any added stress
on me would result in me going into a depression that could end in suicide
so I hope you could help me find somebody who can stand the heat if those
involved get angry.

They told me that they have sold it for a year and none have reclaimed or
wanted to repair them or so so either those who bought them are shrugging
their shoulders and just trow it away or are lucky to have working versions.

I did not buy it. Too wiggly for my taste.

for those who don't know me. The a-bike I sit on in the picture are the original and I borrowed it for some three minutes testing it on the sidewalk to not get out in real traffic cause me felt unsure of my ability to go straight course on it at very low speed.

Even at half price it was not worth it.

I am very surprised that despite them claiming they sold it for a whole year none had complained about the quality. Maybe they lie to me? They are a rather big chain of shops in many cities all over Sweden and only here in Stockholm they have 4 shops or more spread out all over the place. so they seems to not care about getting bad reputation doing something morally not ok.

I'm surprised to hear that a large chain are selling fakes. I suggest you anonymously report this to the genuine distributor, and to the trading standards authorities. Don't give your name and don't get involved at all if you think it will cause you stress. It's their job to deal with it so don't worry!

Hi, If you find any copy A Bikes on sale in Sweden or indeed anywhere in Europe, let me know. We are planning an action program against these pirates! In particular if you have the details of any retail stores selling copies, let me have full details. These guys should know better. If they don't at least we can put them straight. Thanks for your help. Rob S
