wheel pressure

Postby Lee Albert on Tue Aug 30, 2011 11:15 pm

Hi All,

I have just gotten myself a genuine A-Bike City from MLM of A-Bike Shop.com. I am not familar with bike pumps and I wonder if I can pump the wheel up using air pumps in petro kiosk to 90 PSI, which is very high. Or will the air pumps from bike shops be able to do the job? I wanted to get the hand pump from MLM but it is out of stock. Hope to hear some replies soon so I can reward myself this week and go for a ride on it.

Cheers...

Albert

Hi Albert,

Welcome to A-bike Central!

Some of the air pumps in petrol staions can only inflate tyres up to 80psi. I think you'd better buy a shock pump used for front suspension fork of mountain bike to inflate the tyres of the A-bike.

Here are some tips for inflating the tyres of an A-bike.

Hi Amuro,

Thanks for your replies. I also received an email from MHM and they told me to pump to 80 PSI as stated on the wheel. So should I pump to 80 or 90 PSI then? It is funny how the inscription on the tyre actually says 80 PSI, although the slip of hand written paper that that comes with the bike also says 90 PSI.

Hi Albert,

My advice is, always follow the marking on the sidewall of the wheel.
However, the rolling resistance of the wheels will be lower if you inflate the tyres up to 90psi. :P

Re: wheel pressure & tightening the seat post

Postby Lee Albert on Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:59 am

Thanks Amuro. I happen to find a footpump last night that has a gauge and it works fine when I pump it to 90 PSI. I will try to find the adaptor that reduces air loss when detaching the pump. I went to specialty bike shop yesterday to look for handheld shock pumps that has guage but couldn't find one. Will still search for one while using this footpump. Going for a virgin ride later on my A-bike. It should be fun! :D

And I tried to tighten my seat post as suggested by the attached instruction in the manual. However, the tightening using the allen key did not help with the moving around of the seat post. I put in all my force and ended up breaking the connection. How can I repair this? And how do I tighten the seat post then?

Regards.

Albert

P.S. Btw, how do I post photos on this portal? I can't seem to add it even though there is an 'Img' button for inserting images.

Hi Albert,

A picture is worth a thousand words. I think you'd better post some photos here showing the situation of your A-bike's seat post and let me see what I can help you on this.

Here are some tips for posting photos on this forum.
