cheaper copies - assume quality is less too?

Postby callagga on Fri Nov 04, 2011 8:49 pm

background here is there isn't a retailer in Australia for A-Bike - so when I search on eBay is it tempting when you see something that looks like an A-Bike (probably isn't) that is within Australia & cheaper...

Don't suppose anyone has tried this one? (A-Bicycle) Any comments from anyone with any real experience here re whether it's worth while trying this versus stay away at all costs and stick with original...

Them have a thread on bikeforums too about such a copy.

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/774200-Shark-Folding-Bike
There are many or have been many. I am too lazy to check up on them.

The overall reaction from other bikers was a thumbs down for the price and for the quality.
But many of these would also turn down the real original A-bike and the follow up
the City model that have big 8" wheels I have only tested the old one original
and one fake one inside the shop. The fake one was so bad that it was a joke.

But one never knows. if the maker use same quality or close to same quality then it
would be usable but not loyal to the owner of the copyright and patent to use the fake one.

So maybe would be better to try to find someone owning a real A-bike that them used
only a few times and them got tired of the saddle or how it behave and then buy the
used one?

Or see if you can find a Carry Me bike and decide if that one is small enough and work for your needs?
