An A-bike Blog in Taiwan

Postby Amuro Lee on Sun Jun 17, 2007 10:20 am

I've just discovered an A-bike blog in Taiwan
http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/a-bike/

There're photos of a blue frame A-bike on this page

Fake or real, I have no idea. All I can tell from the pic is the A-bikes came from

http://www.a-bike.com.tw/

and,

They are, "Nigel" A-bike. http://www.a-bike.com.cn/
Does it licenced? We haven't reached any conclusion last time, have we?

Interestingly, one of the pics shows the Nigel bike boxs with "Mayhem" triangle logo on them. Is it "Mayhem UK"???

mmmm... :?

[Alexander Kalogroulis] I think that Nigel A-bike is a sanctioned Chinese version of the A-bike but I do not think it is built to the same standards as the European or Japanese models. Daka does not conduct quality checks on the Nigel bike.

So.. I think the Nigel A-bike is olny for the mainland of China.
The price of Nigel is very expensive for Chinese.

Why in the world would Sinclair or Daka license an A-bike anywhere that's not up to the same quality standards? If that's the case, then it seems that Sinclair is contributing to much of the confusion about fakes. Surely they know these things will be popping up around the planet and giving A-bike a bad name for quality.

It's kind of like Rollex making an expensive quality watch for the world market and allowing someone to make a lesser quality watch for the Chinese market that looks the same but costs less. Enough less that it's profitable to sell them elsewhere as the real thing. If it's true, that's just not good business sense.

When I'm asked about my A-bike I continue to encourage future buyers only to buy from Mayhem, since I know the quality from experience. And I think I sold two today for them online in the US.

Now...if I could just figure out a way that they'd give me commission.

As I mentioned on another thread, I have business size cards with a photo of the A-bike, Mayhems site and 5 FAQ points.

I give out about a dozen of these a week.

Hey Kevin, That's way too cool. You are the man.

I asked Mayhem to give me some promotional cards when I ordered some parts, and they didn't give me any. but you know, people just keep coming up to me asking this and that about A-bike!!

Maybe it's time for me to make my own version of card too. Then soon we can have an exhibition of pirated Mayhem UK cards. hahaha

As also mentioned in the other thread if anyone is on Mac and has Business Card Composer, I'll be happy to send the card file.
